The Ultimate Oxymoron: Understanding the Adolescent Brain and Executive Functions
Special Needs Program
This workshop is geared to give educators a better understanding of what we mean by the term executive function. Participants will realize the importance of directly teaching these skills rather than assuming students build these skills naturally. Several research studies suggest that well-developed executive function skills are actually more predictive of academic success than psychometric measures of intelligence. In this workshop participants will be given practical things they can do in their classrooms to help develop, coach, and promote these critical and vital skills that students need for success for 21st century education.
This 90-minute workshop is part of the Special Needs Certificate Program at the CEESA Conference.
