In this session, I will share a middle school unit on ecosystems that effectively engages and assess the multiple dimensions of the NGSS performance expectations while also allowing students to apply their understandings to a real-world issue. Participants will leave the session with an idea of the process used to work backwards from the performance expectation, unpack the practices and core ideas, design standard-based assessment tasks, and create rubrics.
